A detailed head-to-head comparison of Systeme.io and Kajabi in 2026. Features, pricing, course builders, and marketing tools tested with real projects.
Systeme.io and Kajabi both promise the same thing: one platform to build courses, create funnels, send emails, and run your online business. Both deliver on that promise. The difference is that Kajabi charges $149/month to start, and Systeme.io has a free plan that covers the fundamentals.
That price gap raises the obvious question: is Kajabi worth 100x more, or is Systeme.io the smarter choice? We used both platforms for four weeks to build identical course funnels and find out exactly where each one excels and where it falls short.
The numbers speak for themselves. Systeme.io's Unlimited plan at $97/month gives you more capacity than Kajabi's Basic plan at $149/month. And Systeme.io has a free plan. Kajabi has a 14-day trial, then you pay or lose access.
Over 12 months, the difference adds up fast: Systeme.io Startup costs $324/year. Kajabi Basic costs $1,788/year. That is $1,464 you could spend on advertising, content production, or simply keeping in your bank account while you grow.
Kajabi's course builder is excellent. Templates are polished, the student dashboard looks premium, and the content delivery options are extensive. You can create mini-courses, drip courses, coaching programs, and memberships. The course player supports video, audio, text, downloads, and assessments. Community features (discussion boards, live events) are built in on all plans.
Kajabi also offers a native mobile app. Students can download courses for offline access and track progress across devices. For premium courses priced at $500 or more, this polish helps justify the price tag to students.
Systeme.io's course builder covers the essentials well. Create modules, add video and text lessons, set up drip schedules, issue completion certificates. Video hosting is included, so you do not need Vimeo or Wistia. The course player is clean and functional.
However, there are no community features, no discussion boards, no mobile app, and limited branding customization compared to Kajabi. The student experience is solid but not premium.
Kajabi wins on course quality and student experience. If you sell courses above $500 and need a premium feel, Kajabi delivers. For courses priced at $50-300, Systeme.io's course builder is more than adequate and the money saved can be invested into marketing.
Kajabi calls its funnels "Pipelines." The pipeline builder is visual, intuitive, and comes with proven templates for product launches, webinar funnels, and lead magnets. Each pipeline stage connects to email sequences and offers. The builder produces good-looking pages quickly.
Systeme.io's funnel builder uses a block-based drag-and-drop editor with around 50 templates. It covers opt-in pages, sales pages, order forms, upsell pages, and thank-you pages. A/B testing is available on paid plans. One-click upsells and order bumps are built in.
The editor is less visually refined than Kajabi's but fully functional. We built a complete lead-magnet-to-sales-page funnel in about 45 minutes on Systeme.io versus 30 minutes on Kajabi. The extra time was mostly spent on design tweaks, not functionality.
Kajabi is more polished, but Systeme.io is more generous. Systeme.io gives you 3 funnels free. Kajabi gives you 3 funnels on the $149/month Basic plan. Both platforms handle the core funnel workflow well.
Kajabi's email marketing is above average. You get visual email templates, automation sequences, broadcast emails, and segmentation based on product ownership, tags, and behavior. Deliverability in our tests hit 96%, which is strong. Advanced features include conditional logic in automations and email A/B testing.
Systeme.io includes email broadcasts, sequences, tagging, and a visual automation builder. Unlimited sends on every plan, including free. Deliverability in our tests was 94% — acceptable but not best-in-class. Segmentation is basic compared to Kajabi: you can tag and filter contacts, but there is no engagement scoring or advanced behavior-based segmentation.

Kajabi has the edge in email sophistication. But for most solopreneurs sending newsletters and nurture sequences to a list under 5,000, Systeme.io's email tools are sufficient. The question is whether advanced segmentation is worth $149/month when basic segmentation is free.
Kajabi includes a full website builder with blog, custom pages, and professional templates. The sites look premium out of the box and are well-optimized for SEO. You can build a complete online presence without any other tools.
Systeme.io offers basic website and blog functionality. You can create pages and publish blog posts, but the design options are limited compared to Kajabi. For a full website, you might want to pair Systeme.io with a dedicated site builder. For simple landing pages and a blog, it works fine.
Kajabi wins clearly on website design quality. If your website is a major part of your brand, Kajabi's builder is significantly better. If your primary need is funnels and course delivery, Systeme.io's basic pages are adequate.
Kajabi's automation builder supports multi-step workflows with conditional branching. Triggers include purchases, email opens, page visits, tag additions, and course completions. You can build complex customer journeys that respond to student behavior in real time.
Systeme.io's automation is simpler. The free plan includes 1 workflow. Paid plans expand this to 10, and the Unlimited plan removes the cap. Triggers include form submissions, purchases, and tag events. The visual builder is easy to use but lacks conditional branching and advanced behavior tracking.
Kajabi offers more powerful automation. For basic nurture sequences and purchase follow-ups, Systeme.io is fine. For complex multi-branch customer journeys, Kajabi is superior.
Start with Systeme.io. Build your course, set up your funnel, grow your email list, and make your first sales — all without paying a monthly fee. If your business grows to a point where you need Kajabi's premium features and polish, you will know because your revenue will make the $149/month feel like a reasonable investment rather than a gamble.
The biggest mistake we see new course creators make is spending $150/month on a platform before they have a single student. That is $1,800 per year in fixed costs eating into an unvalidated idea. Systeme.io eliminates that risk entirely. Launch for free, prove the concept, then upgrade if needed.
